Beach Cleanup Efforts

Every time I go to the beach I end-up doing a mini beach cleanup. I just can’t leave that piece of plastic on the beach; I have to pick it up. It’s so easy to do so! Why litter when all we need to do is to bring back home, recycle or dispose of it in one of the numerous trash cans along the beach? It’s so easy that even little kids can do it! Sometimes people ask me why I’m doing this and I’m happy to explain that I’m picking up plastic because it kills marine life and birds alike. Some will even thank me or better yet, join me in my quest!

I also pick up rubbish while scuba diving unless it wouldn’t safe to do so… Safety first!

I know I’m not alone and I believe that if we all did our part we could save our oceans and minimize the negative impact on our planet.
The other day I was so happy when I saw a sign that prohibited balloons on Hollywood Beach in South Florida. I had seen one at Luquillo Beach in Puerto Rico and I wish that this would be posted on all the beaches as well as at many other beautiful places.

It’s our planet; let’s clean it up!

This video about Plastic Island really makes us think about the negative impact that humans have had on the environment.
