Our tour of Thailand took us from the bustling city of Bangkok to the northern part in Chiang Rai, near the Golden Triangle. Visiting ornate temples and palaces, boating in the Golden Triangle, stopping by various villages and meeting different tribesmen and tribeswomen was an integral part of our journey in Thailand. In the Chiang Mai area we encountered the Kayan people or ‘giraffe women’ which have rings around their neck from childhood that extend their necks. From there we petted tigers, rode elephants and even watched them paint a portrait. This was all part of our itinerary. To end our tour, we spent a few days in Phuket: relaxing, boating and scuba diving in the Andaman Sea before our long journey back home.
