The diversity of places, cultures and wildlife to be discovered in Africa is what makes it such a unique area to explore. We’ve been there 3 times and we hope to be able to go back and visit even more of the enchanted places it has to offer.
Our first trip to Africa was to the land of the ancient pyramids and pharaohs, Egypt. We were on a guided organized tour and our itinerary took us from Cairo to Abu Simbel along the Nile River. Along the way we stopped in Aswan and Luxor and we ended our trip in Hurghada on the Red Sea. The Ancients vestiges were unlike anything we had ever seen before; the grandiosity of it all was astonishing! Even making the temples of the Romans look small by comparison.
Our second trip to Africa was to the south of Morocco. We started our guided organized tour in Marrakech to the Western Sahara and ended it in Agadir on the Atlantic coast. The highlight of this trip was without a doubt rising before dawn to go see the sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga in the Sahara. What an awe-inspiring moment, an experience not to be missed! One of the Nomadic tribesmen that were guiding us in the Sahara Desert offered my husband 3 camels to keep me. We couldn’t tell if they were having fun with tourists or being serious, but I’m glad he refused.
Our third time to Africa was a dream come true! We went on a private safari to Kenya and Tanzania followed by a few days in Zanzibar on the coast of the Indian Ocean. The natural beauty of the savanna and the exotic wildlife is what lured us to this fascinating land and it was much more than what we had imagined! Pictures, even while amazing, don’t do it justice. We saw the fields of wildebeests during the great migration as far as the eye can see, literally in the millions. We hope one day to be lucky enough to return to this magical land…
