Fort-de-France, Martinique

This French island located in the Lesser Antilles has a lot to offer its visitors from beautiful beaches to lush mountain peaks. The cruise ship terminal is within walking distance of Fort-de-France city-center. Also, nearby are St. Louis Cathedral and Fort St-Louis.

Sometimes ships dock at the Quai des Tourelles, which is only a 15-minute walk from the city-center.

The proximity of the cruise port makes it easy to go explore on your own without having to spend money on an excursion. But, taking an island tour is the only way to really get a feel for this beautiful island.

We toured the island with a taxi driver who brought us to some of Martinique’s most beautiful places. One of our favorite stops was at a waterfall in the rainforest. there we saw giant tropical plants with spectacular flowers.

After our tour we had plenty of time to visit Fort-de-France. We even had time to devour a couple of delicious and authentic French croissants!

Of course, you always have the option of spending the day at beach.  as well as  taking part in various water sports.
